Alexis’ interest for animal rescue began at a young age, creating a homemade “Animal Clinic” to save any creatures found in the surrounding farm land in rural Carroll County, Maryland. Her first proper volunteer job was at an animal shelter in Franklin County, PA, caring for mostly feral cats in quarantine.
As an adolescent she witnessed many cases of animal abuse, and felt powerless to help. Now as an adult she and her family regard it as an honor to transport, foster, and help place dogs in loving households.
Alexis is a painting conservator who is fortunate to work from home, making it ideal to transport dogs and foster. She and her husband Andrew, and their three kids, first connected with BFG in May of 2019, and specialize in fostering Salukis.
